Locations
The Birdhouse
A key location for the Larksong Archive in Diadell. This serves as the headquarters of the organisation.
Elfcliff
Also known as The Cliff, a residential district of the greater Diadell area. It is situated on top of the southern ridge in the centre of Diadell, with majestic views overlooking the harbours of diadell, the lower boroughs, and the Copper Sea.
Described as very middle class; large houses, open boulevards, high end shops, and majestic views. A real life equivalent of Beverly Hills, or Richmond.
There are two bridges at the north end Elfcliff cross over the ridge leading to High Diadell, and there are paths on the cliff that lead to the lower city.
In the square at the southern end of the Cliff, there is a square with spectacular views over the Copper Sea. Also here is a stone doorway, which is a magical chute that transports people to and from Redgate in the lower city. Basically a magic lift.
High Diadell
The administrative district of Diadell, based on the northern ridge towards the northern end of Diadell. The main highlight is the “White Palace” which is the administrative and political capital building of Diadell. Surrounding the palace there are a number of administrative buildings, probably for the different departs of the public sector.
At the southern end of the ridge there are two bridges that lead to Elfcliff, and there are also paths that lead to the lower city.
On this bridge are guards, called the “High Guards”, who inspect passes from the civilians and dictate whether a citizen has access to pass on the bridge or not.
Redgate
Redgate consists of a big wall, made from red basalt, which runs from the cliff to the see. There is a large gate within this wall, separating the Tide Port on the east side and Elf Port on the west side.
Redgate is described as a lot more noisy and “throngy” as compared to Elfcliff being very bustling with lots of activity going on.
Elfport
Possibly the main port and harbour of Diadell. Described as quite civil, most legal trade flows through here. To the west side of Redgate, below the ridge that Elfcliff sits on.
Tideport
Named as the port is affected heavily by the tides of the Copper Sea. This area is known for being seedier compared to Elfport, often favoured by pirates. To the east side of Redgate, below the ridge that Elfcliff sits on.
Has a large tavern called “The Green Clam”, staffed by Ogthar, who is described as “a person who looks like someone took a ham, made it human sized, and then put two little legs on bottom of the ham, and gave the top half of the ham a really big ginger beard with lots of sailor/maritime related tattoos”. Usually frequented by sailors and dockworkers, always bustling.
Dramshore
Described as quite poverty stricken. Where the criminals, pirates, and other low-lives also hang out.
Draughtside
Generally where all the alchemists conduct their business. A constant suburb of explosions, weird spells, large plumes of green myst, and things along those lines. Also has a lot of large ramshackled building all cobbled and hobbled together. It is though that Draughtside is possibly the oldest part of Diadell, being one of the bits of Diadell that has likely been around since ancient Fey times. Can’t get insurance for buildings in Draughtside, they blow up too much.
Has a library called the “Library of the Seven Moons”, a rather large library with an entrance hall whose stone walls are covered in mostly tapestries of people reading furiously, in what can be described as “action style”. The party fought a creature called the “Bookbinder” who was from the plane of eternal libraries, “The Library At The End Of The Universe”. Libraries in this universe are able to change their shape and shift into and out of different configurations.
Coppergard
A fairly upmarket, middle class area. Comprised of large avenues and marbled walled buildings. Locations of the Office of Harbours, the Copper Company, and the Alchemists Guild.
Office of Harbours. Jace al Ciel is the lord of the harbours, and these are the main offices.
Copper Company. A trading venture, basically akin to the real world East India company.
The Alchemist’s Guild. Outside of Draughtside because they’re trying to prevent the guild from exploding and burning into flames. So the Alchemist’s moved the Guild outside of Draughtside in order to prevent it from getting destroyed.
The Kraken Arms, a pub. Perfectly round trees outside, which are self pruning. The pub itself is described as having fancy French restaurant vibes crossed with a gastropub. Live music and a magic smell machine to add to the ambience. Also invented “The Menu”, which is an imp who reads the menu from a sigil. They also invented table service.
